The conference will take place in  Horný Smokovec, small village surrounded by High Tatra Mountains, situated in north part of Slovakia at the border with Poland. Whole area is very popular offering numerous possibilities for hiking in summer and skiing during winter period.

The scientific programme and the registration of the conference will be held in hotel BELLEVUE**** Grand Hotel. Which besides beautiful mountain view, disposes also with multifunctional conference rooms with modern technical equipment, offers comfortable rooms, wellness and sport facilities.

Region is connected with all parts of Slovakia via combination of bus and train connection. To reach Horný Smokovec, the both, bus connection and train connections are available for local transport. Bus and train stops (Stary Smokovec) are located close to conference hotel (1 km), distance is approximately 8 min by walk. The nearby town Poprad (14 km) has direct railway and bus connections with Košice (119 km) and Bratislava (328 km) and Poprad has also a small international airport.



A combination of a trains

a/ line Košice – Poprad – Starý Smokovec
b/ line Bratislava – Poprad – Starý Smokovec
Take a train from Košice (14 trains daily, ~ 1 h 15 min) or Bratislava (11 trains daily, ~ 4.5 h)
From Poprad continue by a regional train to Starý Smokovec (operates every 30 min, takes~ 25 min). Travel to Starý Smokovec train station instead of Nový Smokovec train station is better option as it is closer to conference hotel. For actual schedules see website.

A combination of buses from Košice or Bratislava.

Long-distance busses operated by various coach companies are available, but they are less frequent: from Košice (5 times daily), Bratislava (3 busses daily). Journey is considerably longer in comparison with trains. See schedule.

Several taxi services operate in Starý Smokovec and Poprad and they are available to take you from/or to conference hotel to any destination in Slovakia. There is possibility to arrange shuttle service at reception desk of your hotel. The price depends on the number of passengers and distance from hotel. Information about this possibility will be updated.


Travelling to Slovakia

By air: The closest airport is Poprad international airport. However, only several regular flights from/to London Luton airport are operated from this airport. Flight schedule and destination may be subjected to changes. From airport take a taxi to the hotel (ca 17 €). Better possibility is to fly to either of the main Slovakian airports in Košice or Bratislava (343 km). Košice international airport ( is connected with town centre by public transport (bus 23, last stop Staničné námestie is in front of main train station building) or taxi (more). Bratislava airport is connected with main train station (Hlavná stanica) via bus 61 (schedule) or by taxi (more). Alternatively, you can fly to Budapest (Hungary, 292 km), Vienna (Austria, 408 km), Prague (Czech Republic, 572 km) or Cracow (Poland, 203 km) international airports.

By train: Train connections to Poprad from Budapest via Košice, from Vienna (one daily), from Prague (five daily, 8-9 hours).

By bus: Direct bus connection to Poprad from Prague, other possibility is to travel from Budapest with change in Banská Bystrica or Cracow with change in town Ružomberok.

The official currency in the Slovak Republic is the EURO. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants and most shops.
